What will the impact be for the department/faculty?
Based on the ALIEN’s project objectives through using Active Learning and Problem Based Leaning approach, the faculties will be impacted on the following aspects:
1). To introduce AL and PBL teaching and learning pedagogy in the university and faculty’s strategic and financial plan, curriculum, and course syllabus to align with Cambodian government policy and strategy (institutional and financial sustainability)
2). To provide lecturers with professional training on AL and PBL and equipped some materials to support their teaching activities (human sustainability), and
3.) To provide students educational quality and high labor skills to match with social needs and current labor markets in Cambodia (human sustainability)

Dear Mr. Tieng Morin,
Thanks you for your kind sharing in this platform. Based on my personal experiences and observation, most Cambodian higher education institutions have faced some challenges to implement Problem Based Learning and Active Learning as following:
1). Lack of qualified lecturers who can apply active learning pedagogy in their course syllabus and curriculum
2). Lack of teaching materials (library, labs, tables, furniture, internet access, …) to support their teaching and course syllabus
3). Lack of motivation among lecturers in term of their low salaries and incentives
4). Lack of institutional policies, mechanism, and regulations to facilitate students and lectures in using active learning pedagogy (student center approach teaching methodology).
5). Lack of physical and mental supporting from the top management of the universities to boost the innovative and active pedagogy in their institutions.
According to these five main challenges, how can we solve them in current Cambodian context? Please kindly share your opinion. Thanks
